New Horizon Academy Receives Lake Street Council’s Community Impact Award

PLYMOUTH, Minn. – New Horizon Academy, located at 105 W. Lake Street in Minneapolis, was one of four businesses to receive Lake Street Council’s annual Community Impact Award. This award is given to innovative businesses who are involved in making the Lake Street corridor a better place.

New Horizon Academy has been locally family owned and operated since opening its first child care program in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, in 1971.  The commitment to excellence that our founder, Sue Dunkley, strived for in New Horizon’s beginning is the foundation that our company is built on and the cornerstone of each New Horizon Academy.

New Horizon on West Lake Street opened in January 2017 and will provide high quality care and early childhood education to more than 150 children in the area. So far, New Horizon Academy on West Lake Street has provided thirteen jobs to local residents and we look forward to adding many more.

“More and more young families are choosing to remain in the city of Minneapolis, so we are thrilled to offer our programs in a neighborhood that is convenient for families and part of a dynamic urban environment,” said Chad Dunkley, CEO of New Horizon Academy. “We believe that every child deserves the best care and early education.”
