Minnesota Department of Education Visits New Horizon Academy to Celebrate CACFP Week

Each year, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) holds CACFP Week, bringing awareness to how the federally funded program works to ensure children and adults have access to nutritious meals and snacks.
In partnership with CACFP and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), New Horizon Academy schools celebrate the week by making a kid-friendly snack, created by New Horizon Academy Director of Food and Nutrition Jill Weldon.
This year, members of MDE and CACFP paid a visit to our Shakopee school as children and staff enjoyed a fruit “cheesecake” snack of graham crackers, berries, and yogurt.
