Caring Beyond the Classroom Event at New Horizon Academy Teaches Kids to Give Back

PLYMOUTH, Minn. – New Horizon Academy families and staff participated in a company-wide Caring Beyond the Classroom event on November 12th that helped give back to local community organizations.
Together children, parents, and staff helped to create 2,227 placemats for Meals on Wheels, 2,120 coloring sheets for Color a Smile, 3,004 cat toys for the Humane Society, and 140 tie blankets for The Linus Project. The goal of the event was to create awareness for how families can give back to their community and to create a positive and memorable experience for all.
“Caring Beyond the Classroom helps to develop a lifelong commitment to service and encourages collaboration and social responsibility in children,” said Cara Johnson-Bader, Vice President of Marketing and Parent Experiences. “Our families had a great time coming together, giving back to the community, and teaching their children about the importance of serving others.”
The Caring Beyond the Classroom program is incorporated into our schools year round and through service projects children learn things like citizenship, empathy, kindness, and compassion.
