Summer Adventure KickoffGet ready for a summer full of adventure! The journey begins with our Summer Adventure Camp. Your child will have an action-packed summer as they become artists, explorers, scientists, adventurers, mathematicians, chefs, authors, illustrators, and gardeners and learn about the planet. Your child will have a blast as they kick off a summer of fun at New Horizon Academy!
Campers will plant their own class garden and study it. From the garden’s seeds, green leaves, and sprouts to the delicious vegetables and fruits they grow, your child will enjoy planting and tending to their garden. Your child will dig into the dirt and discover the busy world of worms, snakes, and other animals that make a garden their home. Your child will also learn about the tools used to garden and how to care for their very own garden. Then they will enjoy fruits and vegetables that they grew themselves!
Campers will celebrate the important roles bees play in our ecosystem. Your child will put on their detective hat and look inside a beehive to investigate the fascinating life of bees. Why do bees buzz? What is pollination? Why are bees important? Those are only a few of the things your little detective will uncover as they explore the intriguing life of bees. By the end of summer, your child will be buzzing with astonishing facts about these fabulous creatures.
Grab your binoculars and join us for a bird-watching adventure! Your child will discover the intriguing world of birds. From birds your little one would see in their backyard to exotic ones, your child will delight in taking flight on this incredible journey into the colorful and fascinating world of birds. Your child will build their own birdhouse, create bird food, and document their observations and discoveries in their Bird-Watching Journal.
Campers will set out on an expedition to the rainforest. During their voyage, the jungle comes alive as your child learns about animals, plants, and the ecosystem of the jungle. What animals will they encounter? What is the weather like in a rainforest? What plants grow in the jungle? These questions and more will be answered as your child explores life in the lush rainforest.
Through fun, hands-on activities, your little scientist will delve deep into a study of the mysterious underwater world. Your child will discover how and why water moves and learn the answers to questions such as “What creatures live in water?” During the aquatic study, your child will make a water compass, discover underwater creatures, create an ocean in a bottle, and so much more as they explore the mystifying world of water.
Earth Savers to the RescueYour child will embark on a mission to save the Earth as they learn about pollution and recycling. They will follow the path of a plastic bottle as it goes through a refinery plant to become something new, learn about sustaining energies by creating a solar powered oven, and save trees by making recycled paper. Your little one will be on a mission to do their part to save the Earth by recycling and reducing pollution. Earth Savers to the Rescue!
Summer Adventure Wrap-UpWe wrap up our summer adventure journey with an array of exciting activities. We will create a memory book featuring highlights of our summer adventures, host a reading celebration to honor our reading accomplishments, recap our Caring Beyond the Classroom projects and successes, and celebrate the start of school!

Our SciKids at New Horizon Academy program provides children with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) activities. From participating in engineering challenges to exploring motion, gravity, and energy, your child will have ample opportunities to work on their school-readiness skills, all while having fun. By the time they head off to kindergarten, they will have all of the skills necessary to succeed in school and life!
Gardening Adventures:From digging and planting to watering and weeding, your preschooler will enjoy the many opportunities for hands-on exploration in dirt as they participate in gardening adventures. Your preschooler will plan, plant, and tend their garden. They will observe, track, and study the growth of their fruits and vegetables to build their math and scientific skills. They will learn about healthy eating habits and will use the fruits and vegetables they planted to make different recipes. Your preschooler will have a blast on their gardening adventure.
Drip, Drop, Splash:Preschoolers love water! We will follow their interests to discover the importance of water and its many uses at school and at home, investigate how water changes, and learn about how water helps people and the environment. Through hands-on STEAM experiments, your preschooler will learn about how water changes from liquid to gas, liquid to solid, and solid to liquid; learn the importance of water conservation, and meet interesting people who use water in their daily lives. Your preschooler will enjoy exploring the wonderful world of water.
Your preschooler will delight in investigating the colors, shapes, movements, and behaviors of insects. Your preschooler will gather data, meet an entomologist, create their own guide to insects, and use scientific tools to explore these incredible creatures! By the end of summer, your preschool will be buzzing with intriguing facts about insects.
School-agers need the support and encouragement of an understanding adult, and the school-age teachers at New Horizon Academy understand and celebrate your school-ager’s need for independence, adventure, and continued learning during the summer months.
Each day, you will receive updates through a mobile app which allows our teachers to share information as needed, send messages, and delight you with photos via e-mail. You are also welcome to use it to send your child’s teacher a message.
