Because ongoing evaluation is an integral part of the education process, our teachers use a nationally recognized and award-winning assessment system for assessing each child's development. The written assessment incorporates the use of an online portfolio, a developmental checklist, and ongoing observations to monitor and support your child's growth and development.
Each classroom transition has been a positive and smooth experience. We have always felt that we are in the loop thanks to parent-teacher conferences and daily updates!
I love the communication between parents and teachers/directors. My son just graduated, and I know a lot of his success in kindergarten is due to the education and support from the teachers at New Horizon Academy.
Your child’s teacher will meet with you at least twice a year to talk about your child’s development. During the conference, you will have an opportunity to review your child’s portfolio and discuss his or her development. Parent-teacher conferences provide you with an opportunity to connect with your teacher and partner with one another to help your child grow to their fullest potential.
Our teachers use assessments to pinpoint where your child is at in their development and learning. The assessment results help guide our teachers in creating an individual development plan for your child and promoting school readiness.
The assessment focuses on your child’s strengths and provides an accurate picture of his or her emerging skills in all learning domains: social and emotional, cognitive, physical and motor, language, and creativity and the arts.
There’s no specific preparation needed! The skills being assessed are incorporated into our curriculum across all programs, from infancy to pre-kindergarten. By enrolling your child in our early education programs, they will be well prepared for assessments!
